This Privacy Notice explains how JOE & THE JUICE (“We”, “Us”) process your personal data when you interact with us for a job opening, sign up for job alerts, or submit a job application to us.

Use of your Personal Data

We may use your personal data for the following purposes:

  • Assessing your suitability for potential employment with us
  • Evaluating and determining appropriate compensation, payroll, and benefits packages
  • Communicating with you regarding your application and potential employment relationship
  • Informing you of new positions within your field of interest, should you express such a preference.

Categories of Personal Data

We may collect the following categories of personal data about you:

  • Ordinary personal data: This includes your name, address, email address, telephone number, gender, educational information, current and previous employment details, and any other information as included in your CV/resume.
  • Other personal data: This includes your age/date of birth and picture, which you might include in your application.
  • Internet and other electronic activity information: This is collected by cookies and based on your cookie preferences.
  • References: This includes references from previous employers.
  • Right to work documentation.
  • Special categories of data: This includes background checks, such as criminal offences (if applicable/required for the role you are applying for).

Sources

When We collect information from sources other than you, these sources may include:

  • Recruitment agencies
  • Former employers (to conduct references with your consent)
  • Your LinkedIn profile, when you choose to log into our platform through LinkedIn or apply via LinkedIn.
  • Indeed, Recruitio or other online recruitment platform.
  • Government or regulatory agencies and third-party background check services.

Other Information Regarding How We Use Technology to Process Your Personal Data 

To better improve your overall candidate experience, we may use a third-party technology platform that leverages an automated system to process your CV and better help match your skills to the specific job criteria. This automated tool compares the information you have submitted to Us against criteria determined by our talent acquisition team to be relevant for the position. This tool assists the team at Joe & the Juice to sort through large amounts of data. Your personal data will never be used to train this automated system nor used for any other purpose other than to help support our review of your application. 

In addition, for certain roles, we may use an initial interview process, which uses artificial intelligence to create a report on each candidate which is then reviewed by the recruitment team. Information from Personality Analyses and Cognitive Tests

In connection with recruitment, We sometimes perform a personality analysis or cognitive test. The purpose of the tests is to assess your competencies in relation to the specific position and to assess whether your profile fits the company. Before completing the assessments, you will be asked for your consent to process this information. You may withdraw your consent to our processing of this information at any time. You can do this by contacting talentacquisition@joejuice.com. Withdrawing your consent will only take effect from the time we are notified. The processing conducted up to this point will still be based on your consent.  

Legal Bases

We may process your personal data described above based on the following legal bases:

Legitimate Interests (Art. 6(1)(f) of the GDPR): Processing is necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interests pursued by the controller or by a third party, except where such interests are overridden by the interests or fundamental rights and freedoms of the data subject which require protection of personal data. The legitimate interests that we pursue in connection with processing of job applicant data are:

  • Management of a potential employment relationship.

Performance of a Contract (Art. 6(1)(b) of the GDPR): Processing is necessary for the performance of a contract to which you are a party or to take steps at your request prior to entering a contract.

Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) of the GDPR): Should we collect references from previous employers or if you are to undertake a personality analysis or cognitive test, processing will be based on your consent.

Legal Obligation (Art. 6(1)(c) of the GDPR): We collect criminal offences data to comply with legal and regulatory obligations, especially given our store locations in airports, where such backgrounds checks are mandated.

Sharing of your Personal Data

We may share your personal data with:

  • Recruitment agencies and suppliers that provide our company with services or platforms; including but not limited to Sapai.ai and Recruitio.
  • Entities in the Joe & the Juice group.

Transfers to Countries Outside the EU/EEA

Your personal data may be transferred within the EEA or to countries outside the EEA, that are not deemed to provide an adequate level of protection of your personal data compared to the EEA. Instead, we have provided appropriate safeguards as required by GDPR Art. 49(1) through EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

When transferring your personal data to vendors in the United States, we may rely on their self-certification to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (link) or, when this is not the case, on EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

California Residents Disclosure

We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties for targeted advertising, as part of recruitment, employment, or personnel management processes, in compliance with the California Privacy Rights Act.

If you're a California resident requesting access to your information, please specify if you want to access categories of personal information categories or specific pieces of personal information. California residents can opt-out of any sale or sharing of personal information for targeted advertising, although we do not engage in such practices. We also do not use sensitive personal data beyond business operations or recruitment purposes.

When you submit a request, we’ll acknowledge it within 10 business days and respond substantively within 45 days. If we need more time (up to 90 days), we’ll notify you in writing.

Only you or an authorized agent may submit a verifiable request related to your personal information. Agents must have written permission, and you’ll need to verify your identity with us. We will verify both your identity and the agent's authority using the personal information provided. You don't need to create an account to make a verifiable request. If necessary, we may ask for at least two pieces of personal information to ensure accuracy and prevent fraud. We'll compare this information to what we hold to verify your request.

Retention of your Personal Data

When you submit a Job Application to Us or otherwise provide personal data on our careers site, we retain your personal information for a period of 6 months as per our retention policies.

For those who are hired, personal data collected through the personality and cognitive assessments, will be retained for a period of 36 months. This extended retention period supports ongoing employee development and performance evaluation.

Your Rights

In general, you have the following rights:

  • You have the right to request access to and rectification or erasure of your personal data.
  • You also have the right to object to the processing of your personal data and have the processing of your personal data restricted.
  • You have a right to object to the processing of your personal data for direct marketing purposes.
  • If processing of your personal information is based on your consent, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. Your withdrawal will not affect the lawfulness of the processing carried out before you withdrew your consent.
  • You have the right to receive your personal information in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format (data portability).
  • You may always lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, e.g. The Danish Data Protection Authority, the Information Commissioner’s Office and other supervisory authorities.

There may be conditions or limitations on these rights. This depends on the specific circumstances of the processing activity. We will assess each request and respond within the required timeframes.
