JOE was founded in Copenhagen in 2002 and has grown to +370 stores across 17 countries with more than 4.000 employees worldwide. The role will be based in our global HQ in Copenhagen and will be part of our People & Development department, which includes Training, Development, People Analytics, Compensation & Benefits, Recruitment and Talent Acquisition. The role is global and will be reporting to our People & Development Director and a CPO when applicable. You will be having close collaboration with our regional Head of People as well as legal team and additionally, you will have a Junior Associate in your team as direct reference to begin with and the possibility to build a bigger team over time.


The overall responsibility will be to set the overall HR compliance structure and make sure it is aligned with market-specific regulations and employment practices. The objective is to ensure that we maintain our company standard in all markets while meeting all local requirements.



  • Develop and support a solid, efficient HR organization supported by technology to empower the global team.
  • Define and implement global HR standards and policies to maintain consistency across the company.
  • Structure and execute HR policies and procedures at group level.
  • Establish HR compliance frameworks, including audits and training programs, applicable globally.
  • Manage digital Employee Guides, handbooks, and other employee documentation.
  • Oversee HR compliance, employment law, and health and safety at our Copenhagen Headquarters.
  • Stay updated on new laws, implementing necessary changes and improvement plans.
  • Ensure all employee documentation is current and all employment contracts are reviewed annually.
  • Collaborate with the Compensation & Benefits team to ensure compliance with the Equal Pay Act.
  • Work closely with Regional Heads of HR to align HR practices.



  • Minimum five years of experience in the regulatory or compliance field, background could be from an in-house HR function or consultancy.
  • Experience in Danish employment law as well as experience with multiple national regulations, legislation, and cultures.
  • Skilled in managing organizational change, expansion, and growth.
  • Expertise within organizational change, expansion & growth.
  • Understanding of the retail landscape and retail business drivers.
  • Solid communication and presentation skills; fluency in English.
  • Degree in Business Administration, Regulatory Affairs, Law, HRM or related field.
  • Proven project and process management skills.
  • Pragmatic planning, problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
  • Collaborative skills with attention to detail.
