Step 1

Boil the water based on the amount you plan to brew. See our guide to the right

Weigh the coffee and adjust your grinder to a French press setting.

Place the French press on a scale, add the ground coffee and tare it to zero.

Set a timer for 4 minutes and start it as you begin to pour the freshly boiled water on to the coffee.

The grounds will float on top of the water and form a crust. At the 3-minute mark give it a gently stir with a spoon. The grounds will settle at the bottom making it easier to press down the plunger.
