Chemex, kalita or V60? Here is how to brew our Joe filter coffee. The pour over method gets you a round cup of coffee with a light mouthfeel.
Note:
Step 1
Boil water based on the amount you plan to brew. See our ratio guide to right.
Step 2
Place a filter in your preferred brewing device and rinse thoroughly with hot water. This will eliminate any papery taste and preheat the brewer.
Step 3
Weigh out the Joe filter coffee grounds.
Step 4
Place the brewer on the scale, add coffee and tare to zero.
Step 5
Start your timer and add twice as much water as coffee (e.g. 30 g coffee x 2 = 60g water) over the grounds and wait 30 seconds. Pour the water in a circular motion and make sure all the coffee is saturated. This step is essential and allows the coffee to de-gas enabling the water to get the best result of the coffee. This is called the bloom.
Step 6
After the blooming is finished, add water in stages (100g at a time) until you reach the desired brew weight. Do this in a circular motion starting from the center out to the perimeter and back to the center again.
Step 7
Once the coffee stops dripping you are done. Enjoy!
